I made «Ancient pine and stone wall at sunset, autumn, Catskill Mountains» in the fall of 2005 shortly after the loss of my father. I felt very sad at that time and sought refuge in work as I always do. I needed a break and remembered a nearby old white pine tree that I always wanted to photograph. This tree still stands today at 6 feet in diameter and about 70 feet tall. Late in the afternoon on a clear, bright 2015 autumn day, I set up my 8×10 inch view camera with a 210mm Schneider wide angle lens and Kodak Tmax 100 film and waited until the light was perfect. At about 6pm it was. This is one of my most beautiful images. Printed to 28×35 inches on Ilford MGIV gelatin silver paper, double fixed and toned in selenium, it was washed, mounted, matted and framed to museum archival standards. Framed with Optix acrylic ( we can’t ship glass), it is archivally permanent and will outlast the life of the buyer provided that it is properly cared for. This image is signed, numbered (2/50) and dated (2005). Finished in a black museum frame with a double bevel 4 ply mat. Professionally packed for shipping and insured. An object of art to be passed down to another generation.
