ATSF Atchison Topeka Santa Fe Railroad Locomotive Driver Repair Photo

ATSF Atchison Topeka Santa Fe Railroad Locomotive Driver Repair Photo All photographs are processed at a professional photo lab and have standard white borders unless otherwise stated. We DO NOT sell desktop printer, discount chain or kiosk processed photos. Here we have a photograph showing a locomotive driver wheel being “retired” in the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe railway locomotive shops at Shopton, near Fort Madison, Iowa. The tire is heated by means of gas until it can be slipped over the wheel. Contraction on cooling will hold it firmly in place. The original image dated to circa March, 1943 by Jack Delano. You can see our other Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad items by clicking here.
