Hawaiian White Fairy Tern (Manu-o-Ku) on Oahu, Hawaii

This is a photograph I took of 2 White Fairy Terns whose Hawaiian name is «Mano-o-Ku». You can often see them flying in pairs and they do mate for life. It is reported that sailors use the flight of the Mano-o-Ku to help them with navigation. The terns can fly several hundred miles in one day, but they always return to land at night. If sailors follow the tern at night when it is returning for the day, it is said they will find land. Photograph is 8.5″ x 11″, unmatted and unframed.
