The self-portrait, a toned cyanotype print dated to 1995, features the artist lying on the sofa facing down with his hand touching the floor. The toned yellowish color gives the print an ethereal and dreamy antique quality, a signature quality of the darkroom craft by the artist who had nearly lost all his eyesight.

Faith47 Original Artwork – Phoebe III (Cyanotype Exhibit 2016) with tear.
This is an original photo entitled, “Phoebe III.” A third edition of a series of cyanotype photographs on archival paper produced by South African artist Faith XLVII. In the image attachment, you can see a screenshot of an e-mail chat I had with the artist’s Studio Manager as proof of authenticity of the artwork. You can see on the red box I drew on the screenshot that I had purchased the damaged photograph. You can clearly see that the Studio Manager mentions that a partial tear on the top of the image was a pre-existing damage associated with the artwork. Therefore, this artwork has been preserved and is in mint condition since the damage in question has existed long before it was ever shipped to me. I am the first owner of this piece besides the artist herself. You can see her signature on the bottom left corner of the cyanotype photograph.

Artwork made in Malta 2026 Cyanotype on 250 gsm paper, 15 × 20 cm, signed on the back. The cyanotype process is an early photographic technique that uses sunlight instead of a camera. Objects are placed on light-sensitive paper coated with iron salts and exposed to UV light. After washing in water, the image appears in deep Prussian blue. Almost all my cyanotypes are made while traveling, in different countries. I collect natural fragments along the way — leaves, thorns, feathers — and place them directly onto hand-coated paper, exposing them to sunlight outdoors. Each print is unique and slightly unpredictable, shaped by light, weather, and time. No two are ever the same.
