Many important events of Jesus ministry such as the ‘Sermon on the mount’ and the ‘Feeding of 5,000’ took place on the shores of Sea of Galilee. Tiberias, was a center for Jesus ministry and a central site for pilgrimage.

Francis Frith Photo, Approach to Philae, the Nile River, Egypt 1857
He used large wet collodion negatives (16″x20″) which he found hard to keep wet in the intense heat of Egypt. Photos of historic and topographical sights were highly desired.
