ARTIST: W.R. SAUNDERS.Walter Rowland Saunders was born in 1876 in Nassau, Bahamas to Joseph Rowland Saunders and Emma Charlotte Symons Saunders. She died there 4 March 1911. His bride was Claudia Ellen «Nellie» Moore, daughter of John Blackwell Moore and Mary Ann «Minnie» Mounts Moore.

This William James Harris signed photograph has moisture stains on the cardboard mat and lost it’s frame decades ago; signed «Harris» on mat just beneath bottom left corner of image. Harris was a contemporary of Wallace Nutting and Thomas Sawyer in the deep South. Lightly tinted with pastels. The area pictured may now be part of a Florida state park.
