Christian Kitzinger (born in 1944 in Strasbourg) is a French photographer recognized for his work devoted to jazz. Installed in Tarn, he discovered this music very early on which would become a lasting passion. He began photography in the early 1970s and in 1975 took his first photos of jazz musicians during a concert by American trumpeter Bill Coleman, an experience which marked the beginning of a long documentary work. From the 1980s, Christian Kitzinger photographed numerous concerts and festivals in France and Europe. In particular, he became one of the photographers associated with the famous Jazz in Marciac festival, which he followed for almost twenty years, building up over time an important photographic archive of the jazz scene. His work, most often done in black and white, seeks.
