About the artist: Craig Morey is an award winning photographer, based in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 25 years. He is well known for his black and white studio photography, and has published five monographs of art photography, including Linea (Korinsha Japan, 1996), and 20th Century Studio Photos (Glaspalast, Germany, 2001). Extremely Rare Original Vintage 1930s-60s Captain Of The Clouds CollectionWarner Brothers Bill Hendricks Estate CollectionThis collection includes 4 (8″x10″ B&W) photographs as pictured of the production of Captain Of The Clouds, a 1942 Warner Bros war film in Technicolor.The original photographs are still in overall great condition with descriptive captions on the back of each. Also included is an original one of a kind 1940s mockup for the film Captain Of The Clouds starring James Cagney. The original folded silkscreen poster measures 18 3/4″ X 18 3/4″. Information about Bill Hendricks:»Bill Hendricks was a former USMCR Colonel who was the key figure in setting up the «Toys for Tots» program. Aside from his USMCR career he also worked in the film industry for many years, initially as a documentary producer for the United States Army, then as a production executive at Warner Bros., where he eventually became the final producer of the Looney Tunes series.In 1947 Hendricks, then a Major in the USMCR, was asked by his wife Diane to donate some toys (including ones she had made herself) to an organization that gave out toys to needy children. However, his research found that no such organisation existed, and he resolved to start one himself. He led a toy collection in the Los Angeles area with several family and friends that eventually amassed some 5,000 toys. This pilot program proved so successful that the Marine Corps adopted it as an official campaign the following year, and Hendricks helped make it even more of a success by using his contacts through Warner Bros. to persuade many celebrities to support the charity.His career as a documentary producer saw him win an Academy Honorary Award in 1961 for his part in the Marine Corps documentary A Force in Readiness. In 1967 he was asked by Warner Bros. to take over as head of their newly reformed animation studio, as well as becoming overall head of the Looney Tunes franchise. The new animation studio lasted only two years and produced few cartoons of note before shutting down in 1969. However, Hendricks remained in a supervisory role, overseeing production on The Bugs Bunny Show and other television shows featuring Looney Tunes cartoons. He remained in this role until 1977, when he finally retired from the film industry at the age of 73″ -marinestogetherweserved Bill Hendricks was the recipient of the Grand Award, Motion Picture Herald Award. It was presented to him by Vice President John Nance Garner. There is an original signature of the Vice President in this collection as picture. Enclosed is an article about the award from The Motion Picture Herald Magazine Feb. 23, 1935. The attendees in the photograph included Vice President John Nance Garner, Senators Nathan Lynn Bachman of Tennessee, August Lonergan and Francis Maloney of Connecticut, Representative William Citron of Connecticut,, Bishop Thomas F, Gailor of Memphis, Senator Kenneth McKellar, and A-Mike Vogel. The photograph 11″ X 14″ pictures all listed above plus other who were also Grand Award recipients. The original signature of John Nance Garner is on a 3 1/2″ X 3 1/2″ photo as pictured.Finally there are some Navy & Military Collectibles .
