The son of Zahardeen and Penene Darwish, Norm was born Nordeen Zahardeen Darwish in Columbus OH Nov, 16, 1936, the year his parents immigrated from Beirut, Lebanon and his first language was Arabic. He and his friends were the original cruisers, going up and down Woodward Ave. that inspired the GM execs looking out their windows and helped create the car culture.
