Kilauea Volcano Robust Lava Channels Ocean Entry Plume Silver Halide Photo 2018

Here we have a photo showing an aerial view, looking south at Kilauea’s lower East Rift Zone. It shows continued fountaining of fissure 8 and the lava flow channel fed by it. Lava continues to flow quickly in these braided channels; the flow margins were stable and have not experienced any breakouts since June 5.

Here we have a photo showing fissure 17. The flow front has slowed substantially with only small amounts of pasty «toothpaste» lava oozing out from the flow front. However lava continued to be erupted from the active fissure which appears to be accumulating within the flow and has widened the flow margins slightly.
